Drawing on Barbara Mettler’s approach to Creative Dance, this article presents dance as more than learning attractive movements. It is framed as a way of becoming present in the body, sensing space, time and rhythm, and learning when to move forward, step back, listen, interact and express what words may not reach.
The article reflects on the development of the Mettler Creative Dance community in Vietnam and the wide range of people who have joined: educators, psychologists, therapists, coaches, healthcare workers, artists, older adults, women across life transitions, new mothers and younger people living with study, work and screen-related pressures.
Across these different pathways, the recurring theme is not performance technique but presence, embodied awareness, creative freedom and connection.
