This article introduces Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) and palliative care as two practices that can meet around a shared concern: caring for the whole person rather than reducing someone to symptoms or diagnosis.
It describes DMT as a psychotherapy discipline in which movement becomes a clinical means of expression, regulation and connection, while palliative care is presented as an interdisciplinary approach to quality of life for people and families facing serious illness.
The article considers how movement-based work may add a human, relational dimension to palliative care by supporting awareness, choice, emotional expression and connection, while remaining complementary to medical treatment.
